Multi‑Phase Dry Cooler Replacement

Fakouri Electrical Engineering, Inc. executed a multi‑phase upgrade of a Manhattan data‑center roof that involved replacing sixteen aging dry coolers with modern, high‑efficiency units. To minimize disruption, the equipment was removed in four phases, with glycol drained and reclaimed after each stage. A high‑reach crane lifted out the old units and positioned each new cooler onto newly installed spring mounts, while teams replaced the associated piping with 2.5‑inch copper lines and added ball valves for maintenance. The building management system was reprogrammed to handle the new equipment, and temporary cooling was provided to ensure continuous protection of the data‑center’s critical loads. The result is a clean, efficient rooftop installation that improves reliability and serviceability against the backdrop of the New York City skyline.
